Ninth Annual WIC Compensation Survey Shows Increased Revenue, Optimism

dreamstime_13290012 (survey)As president of Women in Consulting (WIC), one of my responsibilities is to work with Jen Berkley of The Inside Advantage to prepare WIC’s annual best practices and compensation survey. This is my first year doing the survey, while Jen has done all nine!

As part of the process, I make myself available to bloggers and the press who want to discuss the survey. I had the pleasure of talking with Christine Oneto with GirlsinTech.net, who featured the survey in a recent blog post: “Ninth Annual WIC Compensation Survey Shows Increased Revenue, Optimism.”

Jen and I will be reviewing this year’s results in a WIC-sponsored webinar on November 3 at 11:00am: “WIC 9th Annual Compensation Review: Gain Insights into Consultant Compensation and Best Practices.”

I hope to “see” some of you there.

Where Are the Women in IT Consulting?

WIC_logo_W_only_201CoatedI had the pleasure of speaking with Chip Camden, an IT consultant and blogger for the TechRepublic, who was writing a post on the lack of women in the IT consulting field. The timing was serendipitous, as Women in Consulting (WIC) was in the midst of compiling our (I’m WIC’s current president) annual compensation survey results.

The results of that interview and Chip’s additional research are presented in his post, “Where Are the Women in IT Consulting?”

CareFusion Jazz Festival Series Garners Prestigious Event Marketer Ex Award

CFinvite2Last year, I had the privilege of working on one of those once-in-a-lifetime projects with a beyond-extraordinary team: the CareFusion Jazz Festival Series. It was fun, it supported two great causes — the arts and healthcare safety — and it covered the full range of marketing communications, from print to digital to PR to onsite events and more.

It was also more than just a pretty face. It was phenomenally successful, as the stats in the press release below show. And now, it’s also award winning.

Thanks to The Exordium Group for making me part of the team, and many kudos to everyone that I worked with on the project. You’re amazing! And a special thanks to Carolyn Rosenberg of C-Design who made burning the late-night oil a pleasant experience.

Effective Customer Communication: Three Key Factors

A while back, I answered a question posted on LinkedIn. The original question related to whether the person should use first person or third person for team bios. However, the advice I offered applies to any customer-facing communication, be it your website, marketing collateral, or social media tool. Just substitute your 100 percent genuineparticular activity for “bios/site” and what I wrote still applies.

No matter what customer-facing communication you’re developing, be it your website, marketing collateral, or social media tool, there are three factors you should consider when making decisions: your audience, your company’s personality, and best practices – with audience being the absolute most important one. That may seem obvious, and most people would nod their heads in agreement, however, it’s often not what companies do. Continue reading
